In our nearly 20 years of pediatric dentistry it has been our experience that most children over the age of three react best when permitted to experience the dental visit on their own with people especially trained for children and in an environment designed for them, also. If your child is under three years old, we will probably want a parent present during treatment. If your child is three years old or older, we usually ask that you allow your child to accompany our team through the dental experience. We believe in the importance of establishing a fun and loving relationship with both you and your child. Miss Sammi, our Patient Care Coordinator, will take you and your child on a tour of our office together prior to any treatment. She will introduce your child to one of our tooth nurses and they will all play together while you and Dr. Winn discuss your child's medical history as well as any concerns you may have about your child's dental health/care and their emotional/social history. Our team strives continually to make your child's dental experience fun. We use many terms and words which are "our own". (Click on Kids DDS "Secret Language" for examples.) We ask that you use this "language" with your child also.
