Welcome!
At The Kids’ Dentist, our patients’ care comes FIRST! From the moment you walk in the door, you will find that we have created a place just for kids and teens. Our merry-go-round is the center of attention to all who enter. We have games for older kids…who likes X-Box!? And we even have a tiny tot area for all those little toddlers who need entertained too! Even our restroom is equipped with a child size potty! If that is not enough, we have a flat screen TV with movies playing all day long.
Our clinic is state of the art. Dr. Winn uses the latest in dental technology, such as lasers, the Wand (an easier way to numb), and Phase I and II orthodontics to help your child's smile. The open concept of the clinic allows the children to play with each other and team members rather than being separated into private rooms. While they are in the clinic, they can enjoy flat screen TVs, a toy area, more video games, as well as books and private head phones for music.
Our dental team is fun, talented, and dedicated to kids! We are all educated in the art of children’s dentistry with specialized training to guide children through a positive dental experience.
Your child’s first set of teeth – the “baby” or primary teeth – are very important. According to the American Dental Association, “Strong, healthy primary teeth help your child chew food easily, learn to speak clearly, smile and look attractive.” Primary teeth also help to shape and form your child’s face. If diseased and broken primary teeth are not treated early, your child’s overall health can be affected. In fact, decay in primary teeth can lead to problems in permanent teeth.
Scheduling your child’s first dental visit prior to his/her first birthday can help establish a positive relationship between you, your child, and Dr. Winn. Parents play an important role in making their child’s first visit positive. The ADA recommends avoiding the following prior to your child’s appointment:
Dr. Winn and her team will teach you how to properly clean your child’s teeth at home, review dental nutrition, evaluate any adverse habits, and identify your child’s fluoride needs. Dr. Winn will also examine your child’s entire mouth, teeth, take appropriate x-rays and conduct a professional cleaning and fluoride treatment.
As with adults, children should visit us every six months, unless otherwise instructed. We usually prefer to see young children in the morning, when they are well-rested and ready to play!
By taking a proactive role, you and Dr. Winn can protect your child from dental disease and give your child the tools to a healthy lifestyle. If your child is over the age of four for their first visit, we will have them come back to experience the visit on their own. This enables your child to build a positive relationship in their new dental home. We’re so happy you have decided to become part of our dental family!
"Both of our kids go to The Kids' Dentist. Our oldest son is very hesitant when he has an appointment, but the staff always takes time to talk to him and makes sure he is comfortable and trusts them. And our youngest son LOVES Dr. Winn! The entire team is friendly and helpful!"
