Child and Parent Pre-visit Information

Scheduling your child’s first dental visit prior to his/her first birthday can help establish a positive relationship between your child and Dr. Winn. Parents play an important role in making their child’s first visit positive. The ADA recommends avoiding the following prior to your child’s appointment:

• Letting anyone tell your child scary stories about dental visits
• Letting your child know you feel anxious about going to the dentist
• Using a dental visit as a punishment or threat

Dr. Winn and her team will teach you how to properly clean your child’s teeth at home, review dental nutrition, evaluate any adverse habits, and identify your child’s fluoride needs. Dr. Winn will also examine your child’s entire mouth, teeth, take appropriate x-rays and conduct a professional cleaning and fluoride treatment.
